重复和省略的翻译方式的运用

一、重复
汉语中重复词语或重复结构，翻译公司人员在翻译成英语时可以直接重复。例如：
a.无论我们是否愿意，我们生活的世界在过去一百年间已经变化了很多，而且在 未来的一百年里可能变化更多。Whether we like it or not, the world we live in has changed a great deal in the last hundred years and it is likely to change even more in the next hundred.
b.我真该一直保持联系，真的，我真该一'直保持联系。I should have kept in touch. Yes, I should have kept in touch.
二、省略
英语民族崇尚个体思维并认为整体只有与个体对立中才能存在，反映在语言上则 重形合，用词造句讲究多样性。除非出于修辞需要，英语很少在句子中重复同一个词 或结构，而往往采用替代和省略等手段来避免重复。因此，在汉译英中，常常需要省 略汉语的重复部分。例如：
a.玛丽喜欢甜食，而我不喜欢甜食。Mary likes eating sweet foods but I don’t.
1.省略动词
当汉语句子中动词重复出现时，英译常常可以省略动词或用助动词do、如^相 did来代替。例如：
a.他只要想看电影，就会去电影院看。He goes to see a film as long as he wants to.
b.我已经洗完衣服了，你洗完没有？ I have finished washing my clothes, have you?
2.省略名词
例如：
在我看来，英式英语和美式英语区别不大。From my perspective, there is no great difference between British and American English.
3.省略其他词
例如：
a.我希望她很快乐，而且她看起来似乎很快乐。I hope she is happy and she seems to be.
b.老师的鼓励对于我英语学习的进步一直具有重要意义，而且将继续具有重大意义 〇 The encouragement of my teacher has long been，and continues to be，of immense signifi- cance for the progress of my English.
